It wasn't just another summer weekend

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

The weekend.

Sticky weather.

What's a sports fanatic to do.

Play some golf. OK, but better do it early.

Be a spectator.

Golf ... road racing ... baseball ...

Or if you're really into it, all of the above.

Golf

The PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey.

Tiger is out of it.

Mickelson is running away with it.

Love is in the air.

Oops, Mickelson is slipping.

Here comes Tiger.

Leaders tee off at 3 o'clock. Why so late?

Oh, right, TV.

Here comes a storm.

Tiger finishes birdie, birdie!

Who's the leader in the clubhouse?

Why it's Tiger of course.

Monday morning.

Mickelson bogeys; back in a tie for the lead.

Oops, Mickelson's approach finds rough on 18.

Playoff ahead.

Chirp, chirp ... Mickelson chips to 2 feet.

Sweet victory!

Now, get off Lefty's back.

Cape Cod Baseball League

The end of another season.

Orleans and Chatham. Bourne and Cotuit.

Then there were two: Orleans and Bourne.

Friday night: A 1-0 cliffhanger for the Cardinals.

Saturday: Braves in a 10-1 rout.

Does it get any better?

Sunday night: Manny Burriss hits; Manny Burriss runs. Orleans 13, Bourne 1.

Not a sweet ending, unless you're an Orleans fan.

Or Manny Burriss, playoff co-MVP ... led league in steals ... hooked on as a temporary player.

Or the hundreds of Cape League volunteers.

Or Commissioner Paul Galop ... forced into umpiring opening day ... men in blue won't work if Falmouth's Jeff Trundy manages without serving suspension for a 2004 incident.

Or a major league scout ... the Cape's a gold mine.

Falmouth Road Race

Isn't summer traffic bad enough?

Down to Falmouth for the big race.

Oooh, not a good day for running.

Temperature in the 80s. Humid.

9,500 runners, give or take a hundred.

Seven miles.

Woods Hole ... Nobska Light ... the woods ... the pond ... the harbor.

Surf Drive.

There goes Gilbert Okari. ... 31.59.

Not bad considering the weather.

Just another easy pay day for the Kenyans.

Hail to the champs!
