Local players star in Cape League

Harwich natives Jared McGuire and Cody Crowell continue to shine as part of their respective Cape League teams this summer.

Crowell, a starting pitcher for the Brewster Whitecaps, is leading the league with 35 strikeouts and carries a 1-2 record with a 2.93 ERA in five games.

McGuire, an outfielder with the Hyannis Mets, is batting .286 with six doubles and a .371 slugging percentage in 19 games. McGuire was briefly in the top 10 in batting before going hitless against Chatham on Monday.

The two will go head-to-head when Brewster hosts Hyannis Sunday, July 16.
