After a string of tough losses, Cotuit finally found success this week when they defeated the Brewster Whitecaps on Tuesday and the Wareham Gatemen on Wednesday. Reese Havens and Caleb Joseph kicked off the scoring for the Kettleers on Wednesday, helping the Cotuit team to an early lead against the Gatemen. Until the seventh the Gatemen couldn’t find their way onto the scoreboard as Cotuit held a solid lead until then.
Havens hit his first homer of the year in the first over the right-field wall to bolster his team. Teammate Joseph brought the score to 5-0 in the third with a blooped double that brought in Tony Delmonico and Ryne White. Defensively Cotuit made numerous nice plays, including a terrific catch by third baseman Josh Harrison for an out.

Tuesday evening the Kettleers gave the Brewster Whitecaps what-for, defeating them 7-3 in Whitecaps territory. Robert Stock, fast proving his strength in many areas, and Tony Delmonico each hit two-run singles for Cotuit to help secure the lead. Stock has two homers so far this season and leads the team with 13 RBI’s. Jason Rook was also a force in the win with three singles and two runs scored. On the mound reliever Josh Lindblom was on target, giving up just one run in three hits during 41/2 innings.

On Saturday the Kettleers faced the Wareham Gatemen, falling 4-3. Cotuit held the lead in the second on a double from Caleb Joseph, who was brought in by Reese Havens, who grounded out. After Wareham hopped ahead a short while later with two runs in the fifth. Another hit from Havens, however, brought the game to a tie in the top of the ninth.
The Gatemen claimed the win when Bryan Garrity walked with the bases loaded at the bottom of the ninth.

On Sunday, starting pitcher Ryan Strauss lasted only four innings against the Chatham A’s, during which he gave up three runs on five hits, with only two strikeouts. The Kettleers hit the board first when Josh Harrison and Ryne White made it home on a double from Tony Delmonico. Unfortunately the Kettleers couldn’t hold on, surrendering the lead in the second when the A’s tied it before an RBI in the fourth brought in their winning run. In the ninth, Cotuit attempted a rally, loading the bases with the help of two walks. Ryan Lollis attempted a hit, but fouled five times before hitting a game-ending pop-up.

Monday night the Kettleers suffered a tough loss against Falmouth, falling to the Commodores 7-3. Robert Stock hit his second home run of the season to bring in a run for the Kettleers, with another run brought in by Ryne White. Reese Havens had an RBI double in the ninth.

At press time the Kettleers were set to face Orleans at home with a road game against Brewster today at 5 p.m.
