The Kettleers have fallen to last place in the Western Division. The team tied with the Wareham Gatemen for 24 points after a crushing and seemingly endless series of losses that continued Wednesday night when Couit fell to Brewster 3-1.

Cotuit’s lone run came in the sixth when Matt Clark reached on an error before being brought home on a single from Robert Stock.

In spite of the loss, the Kettleers’ starting pitcher, Mike Cisco was in good form with no walks and six strikeouts in six innings.

There is still hope of Cotuit earning a spot in the playoffs as they have nine games remaining in their regular season. Should they win all nine games they will make the playoffs.

On Friday it was loss number seven when Cotuit fell to the Wareham Gatemen 3-2. Cotuit hit the board first in the fourth, snagging a 1-0 lead against the Gatemen when Clark slapped a fielder’s choice.

Wareham took a 2-1 lead in the next inning before a passed ball in the sixth allowed Cotuit to score and brought the game to a 2-2 tie.

The Gatemen took the lead for good in the seventh on a base hit.

Cotuit took another hit on Saturday night when they were shut out by Chatham A’s pitcher Tom Milone.

The Kettleers only managed five hits during the game, but couldn’t bring runners past second base. Caleb Joseph mustered two singles for Cotuit.

The downward slide continued for the Kettleers when they were defeated on their home turf by the Harwich Mariners 5-3 on Sunday.

Reese Havens went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored for Cotuit, while teammate Aaron Baker also went 3-for-4, reaching base on an error by the Mariners.

On Monday night the Kettleers traveled to Doran Park to face the Bourne Braves, suffering their 10th consecutive loss as the Braves came away with a 4-1 win.

Clark belted Cotuit’s lone run when he hit his first homer of the season in the second inning.

The Kettleers faced the Braves again on Tuesday night with similar results, falling to Bourne 6-2. The game began well with Cotuit coming out strong with pitcher Rex Brothers on the mound.

Brothers struck out five Bourne batters in less than five innings, allowing only three hits and three runs in his back-and-forth duel with Braves pitcher Joe Kent.Curtis Dupart put the Kettleers on the scoreboard, bringing in a run with an infield single, while teammate Havens snagged the second for Cotuit with a nice one-out shot over the fence for his third homer of the year.

At press time the Kettleers were scheduled to play Wareham on the road before returning to their home field today to face Falmouth at 5 p.m.
