Former Mariner shines in Futures game

Harwich - Former Mariner Jeff Niemann, who pitched during the 2002 and 2003 seasons, started the Futures All-Star game this weekend in San Francisco. The game features the top minor league players throughout the country. The six-foot, nine-inch Niemann is 9-5 with a 3.75 ERA for Tamp Bay’s AAA affiliate. Also participating in the game was former Mariners Brent Lillibridge, who played for Harwich in 2004, and Kevin Mulvey, who pitched for the Mariners in 2004 and 2005.
