Cape League results for July 16

Orleans 9, Hyannis 8
The hottest team on the cape keeps getting hotter as the Orleans squad knocked off Hyannis in the 12th inning as Hampton Tignor hit a go ahead single to put Orleans on top for their fourth win in a row. They’re now nine points ahead of second place Harwich in the East while remains on top of the West with 32 points. Orleans will play at almouth while Hyannis plays at Bourne.

Bourne 5, Wareham 4

The Braves got a walkoff win as Stephen Batts led off the ninth with a long triple. After the bases were loaded intentionally, Bourne’s Marc Krauss delivered the game winning hit. Bourne will host Hyannis while Wareham hosts Cotuit.
Falmouth 7, Brewster 6

The Commodores scored a run in the top of the eighth to edge out third place Brewster before the darkness set in on Wednesday night. Brewster pounded out 13 hits, including three from Derek Poppert, but couldn’t get the runs in as they fall further back in the East. They’ll play YD at home today while Falmouth hosts Orleans.
Cotuit 4, Harwich 0

Seth Blair one-hit the Harwich Mariners, striking out ten and not allowing a walk in the complete game effort for his second win of the summer. A hit by Joe Sanders was the only thing breaking up the perfect game for Blair. With the loss, Harwich remains in second in the East, 10-points behind Orleans. Cotuit remains in second in the West. Harwich will play at Chatham while Cotuit plays at Wareham.
YD 6, Chatham 4

The home team Red Sox scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and held on for the 6-4 win over Chatham. Grant Green continued his hitting streak for the A’s and Tony Sanchez had a pair of hits for the Red Sox. Chatham will host Harwich while YD plays at Brewster.
