Cape League results for June 17

Brewster 6, Hyannis 4
Brewster scored three runs in the second inning, two on a homerun by Nate Lape, and eventually rolled to a 6-4 win over the Mets for their first win of the season. Whitecaps starter Tim Clubb allowed just one hit over six-plus innings of work while striking out seven. The Mets managed only five total hits, including two by Trent Ashcraft. Brewster is now 1-1-1 on the season and will travel to Falmouth tonight while Hyannis lost their first game of the year and is now 2-1 on the young season. They'll host Chatham tonight under the lights.

Bourne 5, Chatham 2
Braves starter Ricky Bowman scattered six hits while striking out nine in six innings of work to lead Bourne to their first win of the season. Bowman allowed only single runs in the fourth and fifth innings while the Braves offense pounded out 10 hits and plated six runs. Chatham remains winless at 0-3 and will travel to Hyannis while Bourne raises their record to 1-2 and will host Wareham tonight.

Cotuit 5, Wareham 3
The Ketteleers manufactored a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and Danny Meszaros pitched a perfect ninth to pick up the win. Cotuit's Jeff Schaus had three hits and an RBI, while teammate Brett Jackson had a pair of hits and drove in two runs. For Gatemen, Steve Liddle and Kipp Schultz each had a pair of hits. Cotuit, now 3-0 on the season, will travel to Y-D, and Wareham, now 1-2, will play Bourne.

Harwich 6, Y-D 5
Harwichs' Andrew Giobbi hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th inning, driving in DJ Belfonte for the winning run in the homeopener for the Mariners. Belfonte had three hits on the day while Marc Krauss drove in three runs to keep the Marinrs record perfect at 3-0. For the Red Sox, Nick Liles and Mack DeAngelo each had three hits in he loss. Y-D will host Cotuit, while Harwich will play Orleans.

Orleans 2, Falmouth 1
Clinging to a one run lead in the ninth, Cardinals reliever Kyle Kamppi shut the door on the Commodores to give Orleans a 2-1 win. Adam Wilk pitched three perfect innings for the win. Tim Wheeler and Angelo Songco each had a pair of hits and scored a run. Trevor Coleman had the lone RBI for Falmouth, which only had four hits on the night.
