Cape League results for June 30

REGIONAL —

Orleans 5, Cotuit 4

The Cardinals broke a 4-4 tie and their two-game losing streak as they used a perfectly placed suicide squeeze by third baseman Mike Murphy up the first base line, scoring Alex Hassan for the winning run. Hassan reached base on an error to start the inning. The Kettleers got three runs in the eighth inning to take the lead, but that lead would be short lived as the Cardinals tied the game at four in the bottom of the inning. Matt Thomson pitched well for Orleans, allowing one earned run on three hits in five innings of work. The teams combined for 10 total errors. Cotuit will play at Chatham tonight, while Orleans hosts Brewster.
