Cape league results for July 1

Cotuit 6, Brewster 5
The Kettleers scored a single run in the top of the ninth inning after tying the game in the eighth, then falling behind again when Chatham scored a run in the bottom of the inning. With a lead in hand, Cotuit’s Drews Storen picked up the win with a perfect ninth in which he struck out two of three batters faced. Corey Olson continued his torrid pace, connecting for another pair of hits. Mike Bianucci had three hits for the Kettleers. They’ll host Bourne, while Chatham faces Y-D.

Falmouth 4, Hyannis 0
Falmouth starter Jonathon Kountis pitched five innings of two-hit ball as the Commodores defeated the Mets, 4-0 on Tuesday. Austin Hudson also pitched well for Hyannis, allowing only one earned run in more than four innings pitched. Jimmy Cesario had a pair of hits and an RBI for Falmouth. Falmouth will play at Wareham tonight, while Hyannis travels to Brewster.

Orleans 7, Brewster 3
The Cardinals took down the East leading Whitecaps with four runs in the first two innings as they defeated Brewster 7-3. Orleans starter Kyle Smith allowed two earned run on six hits in five innings. Matt Bowman had a pair of hits and drove in two runs. Nate Freiman also had a pair of hits for the Cardinals. Brewster’s Ty Kelly had three hits and scored a pair of runs in the loss. Brewster will play at home against Hyannis tonight, while Orleans travels to Harwich.

Bourne 13, Wareham 4
Bourne’s Jordan Henry had a memorable night at the plate as he pounded out six hits and scored four runs in the Braves lopsided win over Wareham. The Braves starter, Ricky Bowen earned his second win of the summer, allowing only a pair of hits while striking out seven in six innings of work. The Braves face Cotuit tonight, while Wareham hosts Falmouth.

Harwich 9, Y-D 3
The Mariners cut Brewster’s lead in the East to just one point as they defeated Y-D 9-3 on Tuesday night. J.T. Wise continued his hot hitting as he collected three hits and drove in three. Chase Leavitt also had three hits in the win. Starter Steve Kalush allowed an earned run in seven innings of work. The leading hitter in the league, Y-D’s Nick Liles, had a pair of hits in the loss and is batting .453. Harwich will host Orleans tonight, while Y-D hosts Chatham.
