Cape League results for July 2


REGIONAL -

Hyannis 7, Brewster 4
The Whitecaps lost their second straight game and in the process, lost possession of first place in the East. The Mets scored five runs in the fifth inning as they pulled within two points of the West lead. Trent Ashcroft and Ben Paulson each had a pair of hits for the Mets, while closer Russell Brewer picked up his league-leading seventh save of the season. James Meador had three hist including a triple in the loss. Brewster will host Cotuit while Hyannis plays Harwich.

Bourne 5, Cotuit 2
The Braves won their fifth straight game last night, this time in over West leading Cotuit. Ross Wilson had a pair of hits, while Kevin Landry picked up the win after three innings of relief. Cotuit got a pair of hits from Jeff Schaus. They'll play Brewster while Bourne hosts Y-D.

Harwich 11, Orleans 3
The Mariners leap-frogged the Whitecaps to take over the lead in the East with a lop sided win over the Cardinals. William Bullock picked up the win firing seven-plus innings allowing only one earned run on four hits. J.T. Wise had three hits and drove in a pair of runs while Joe Sanders hit a three run homerun in the Mariners five run six inning. Matt Bowman continues to hit well for Orleans as he collected a pair of hits in the loss. Harwich will face Hyannis while Orleans hosts Wareham.

Falmouth 3, Wareham 2
The Commodores scored a run in the top of the ninth and hung on the for the one-run victory. Jimmy Cesario drove in A. J. Pollack for the winning run. Pollack went five-for-five in the game and currently leas the league with a .455 average. Wareham pitcher Dallas Keuchel was the tough luck loser as he pitched eight strong, allowing only one earned run. Wareham will face Orleans tonight while Falmouth plays Chatham.

Chatham 5, Y-D 2
Grant Green went four-for-five and the A's scored five runs in the games final three innings to pick up the win. Cory Olson and Kyle Seager had a pair of hits each in the win. Tony Sanchez had three hits and an RBI in the loss for Y-D. Sammy Solis picked up his third win of the year, allowing two earned runs while striking out six in six innings. Chatham will play Falmouth tonight while Y-D plays Bourne.
