Cape League results for July 8

Bourne took over sole possession of first place in the Cape League Western Division by defeating Harwich while Cotuit upended Hyannis.
Bourne 5, Harwich 2

The Braves rode Jamie Johnson's two-run fifth-inning single and the solid pitching of Nate Reed to win their fourth straight game and take a two-point lead over Cotuit and Hyannis.


Cotuit 5, Hyannis 2
Nick Hernandez won his fourth game of the season with seven strong innings for the Kettleers, who tied the Mets for second place. Jeff Schaus hit a two-run double and Jason Kipnis added a two-run single to offset Jason Dominguez' solo home run for the Mets.



Falmouth 9, Wareham 8
The Commodores Ben Tootle picked up the save with a bases-loaded ninth inning strikeout to end the game. Jimmy Cesario's two-run hit sealed the victory in the eighth inning.



Orleans 8, Y-D 2
Matt Bowman and Angelo Songco hit two-run first-inning home runs in the first inning for the Cardinals, who moved to within a point of idle East Division leader Brewster. The two-time defending champion Red Sox are mired in last place.
