Welcome Home Brewster Whitecaps!

BREWSTER, Mass. – This Sunday, July 2 marks the official homecoming ceremony for the new field at the Stony Brook School in Brewster, the first formal home of the Brewster Whitecaps.

Whitecaps president Claire Gradone said the entire organization is excited to have the “opportunity to present the field to the Town of Brewster.”

It has been decades in the waiting, but the time has finally come for the Brewster Whitecaps to have a field of their own. Special guest Wally the Green Monster of the Boston Red Sox will be on hand to help out with the pre-ceremony activities.

The festivities commence at 3 p.m., beginning with a sing-a-long for kids in the picnic/park area. Throughout that time and for the remainder of the day there will be many opportunities to take pictures with and get autographs from the players and Wally, so make sure to being your cameras!

The official ceremony takes place at 4 p.m. The ‘Around the Bases’ will honor the many people who have contributed to the making of this field. There will be a salute to the founding fathers and past presidents of the franchise as well as to Timothy F. Carroll, Superintendent of Cape Cod Tech, for all the great years the Whitecaps played at the school.

The Yawkey Foundation, the Brewster School Committee and Brewster town officials, in addition to the entire Cape Cod Baseball League, will be honored. There will also be a special “thank you” to all major financial contributors and other donors.

Home plate will be reserved for the two dedicated men who made this day possible. Citations from the Town of Brewster will be given to former Whitecaps President Gene L’Etoile and Project Field Supervisor Chester Robinson for their hard work and perseverance toward making this dream a reality.

Following the ceremony, the Whitecaps will take on the Y-D Red Sox, so come and celebrate the new Stony Brook Field by cheering on the Brewster Whitecaps. There are plenty of fun activities planned for everyone, so make sure to bring the whole family!
