18 July 2009 Harwich Sends Four to
All-Star Game

HARWICH, Mass.—Harwich is sending four players to the Under Armor All-Star Game and a fifth to the home run hitting contest at Fenway Park this year.
“They all deserve it,” said field manager Steve Englert, who will be the head coach for this year’s East team, assisted by his Harwich assistant coach Peter Pasquarosa. “It was such a close decision, it was a hard decision. It came down to a few points, and it’s all based on points. Every one of those kids, a few points, they could easily get into the lineup.”
Outfielder Daniel Grovatt (Virginia) is in the starting lineup with pitcher
Aaron Meade (Missouri State) as an All-Star reserve. Pitchers Matthew Price (Virginia Tech) and
Eric Jokisch (Northwestern) are alternates, and Connor Powers (Mississippi State) will be aiming for the Green Monster in the home run hitting contest before the game.
“It’s a great group,” said general manager John Reid. “Definitely two guys that really deserve it this year, and Aaron Meade’s been great on the mound for us. Both character guys.”
“It’s an honor,” said Grovatt. “There’s so many good players in this league, it’s going to be a really neat experience going to Fenway. I’ve never been there.”
“It’s the best of the Cape League so it’s obviously going to be amazing, it’s going to be a lot of fun to compete and see what happens,” said Grovatt.
And Meade is excited as well. “It’s really special, getting to pitch at Fenway Park. That’s going to be awesome.”
The Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game is being held at Fenway Park for the first time in 22 years next Thursday July 23.
